Job Title: Pharmacist - Travel Job (#447640)
We're hiring a licensed pharmacist for a contract position in Asheville, NC at a long-term care facility where you will use clinical expertise to ensure the safe and thoughtful distribution of medications to residents. Duties include accepting and dispensing prescription medications, monitoring medication compliance and over-usage patterns, maintaining confidential patient and pharmacy records, advising patients on medication use and side effects, providing patient services such as blood pressure measurement and smoking cessation support, compounding medications including preparing sterile solutions, supervising pharmacy staff, maintaining inventory, and identifying and communicating drug-related problems with prescribers and care teams. Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Current state pharmacist license required. Must be licensed by the North Carolina State Board of Pharmacy or eligible to obtain licensure prior to start.
- Experience in pharmacy practice serving long-term care or skilled nursing populations preferred.
- Experience compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations required.
- Experience supervising pharmacy technicians or pharmacy staff preferred.
- Familiarity with medication counseling, medication therapy management, and drug interaction identification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of pharmacist experience preferred.
- Experience with long-term care medication distribution systems and state regulatory compliance preferred.
- Experience providing patient services such as blood pressure monitoring and cholesterol management preferred.
Assignment Details
- M-F, four 10-hour shifts per week (schedule may rotate weekly; examples include 9:00–19:00 or 10:00–20:00).
- Onsite at the long-term care facility.
